I dunno. As a rule I don’t WOT a cold engine, so I wouldn’t know.

Mine is certainly louder when it’s cold, but that’s only due to it high idling.

True, you didn’t. Given my own car though, without 3/4th to 4/4th throttle you don’t really get to hear the engine proper.
Then again, that’s a little econobox diesel affair with quite a bit of sound deadening, so that makes sense.
